Projects to be Completed Soon: As part of the Center's annual plan, it has developed several projects to be completed soon, as follows:
1. A proposed field study project on: Federalism in Iraq in the Public Sphere (a study on developing a tool to measure the extent of federalism's entrenchment in the Kurdistan Region at both the institutional and societal levels). This study will initially focus on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and then expand to Iraq as a whole.
The field study aims to identify the extent to which the concepts and values of federalism are entrenched in official institutional practices and in the understanding and awareness of the Kurdish people and society. This will enable us to diagnose the weaknesses and shortcomings of this system, approximately two decades after its enshrinement in the 2005 Iraqi Constitution, and to identify the obstacles it faces, while also contributing to proposing necessary solutions and remedies.
2. Under the title: Developing Political Awareness of the Importance of Federalism in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the Center for Federalism Studies at the University of Duhok is conducting a series of seminars for students of the University of Duhok and young people in the city of Duhok on: The Federal System in Iraq: Between Theory and Practice.
These seminars gain their academic, political and cognitive importance, to introduce our students and youth to the federal system in Iraq from both theoretical and practical perspectives, because federalism, as a mechanism of governance in Iraq, constitutes an existential necessity for the Kurds from the political, economic and security perspectives, and our main goal is to provide our students at the University of Duhok and our youth in the city of Duhok with constitutional and political knowledge about this system and the most prominent obstacles that weaken its correct application.
