Shireen Salih Hassan is a peacebuilding and human rights practitioner with over ten years of experience across NGO, humanitarian, and academic peace initiatives. She serves as a project assistant at the Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies (CPCRS) at the University of Duhok, where she supports the implementation of multi-year, donor-funded peacebuilding and social cohesion projects.

Her work focuses on program coordination, donor reporting, youth engagement, and rights-based advocacy, with particular attention to women’s participation, social cohesion, and inclusive peacebuilding. Through CPCRS initiatives, she has contributed to engaging more than 500 young people in peacebuilding and community development efforts.

Shireen has actively contributed to national and international advocacy processes, including the preparation of Iraq’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) report. In 2024, she was selected to participate in the Iraq UPR Pre-Session in Geneva, engaging with diplomats and international missions on gender-based violence and women’s economic participation.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Translation from the University of Duhok (Top 3 graduate) and participated in an academic exchange program with Justus Liebig University Giessen, focusing on women’s participation in dialogue, negotiation, and peace processes.
