A delegation from Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad, headed by the Dean of the College of Dentistry and a member of the Iraqi National Council for Accreditation of Dental Colleges, Dr. Maha Jamal Al-Ani, visited the University of Duhok. On November 26 2024, the delegation met with the Vice President of the UOD for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Dilshad AbdulHalim Jabbar, the Director of International Relations, Dr. Nizar Amin, and the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Saeed Ali, for the purpose of concluding a memorandum of understanding between the two colleges of dentistry at the two universities. This step plays a close role in strengthening relations between the two parties and demonstrates the two universities' familiarity with future joint work, especially in the field of scientific research and other joint projects.

The delegation's visit also included holding a workshop on 25th and 26th of the current month, attended by members of the delegation including the aforementioned Dean of the College of Dentistry and the Vice Dean of the College of Dentistry at Al-Mustansiriya University, Dr. Bilind Muhammad Salim, and the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit at the same university, Dr. Nour Natiq. From the UOD’s side, members of the College of Dentistry Council, the Head of the Postgraduate Studies Unit, and the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit at the College participated in the workshop. The main topic of the workshop was about how the College of Dentistry at the University of Duhok can obtain national accreditation from the Iraqi National Council for Accreditation of Dental Colleges. Discussions took place during the workshop on the basic criteria required to complete the eligibility of the College of Dentistry to obtain accreditation.

As for the basic provisions of the memorandum of understanding that was signed, it includes implementing joint work between the two universities, especially with regard to conducting joint scientific research and participating in supervising master's and doctoral research implemented by the two universities and involving professors from the two universities in the discussions of master's and doctoral theses submitted by postgraduate students from both parties. On the other hand, it was agreed to hold joint scientific conferences and exchange scientific visits between members of the two colleges in order to identify the strengths of each college.

This agreement represents a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations between the University of Duhok and Al-Mustansiriyah University, reflecting their mutual commitment to fostering academic partnerships and achieving shared strategic goals.
