College of Science Celebrates the Class of 2026 Graduates

At the University of Duhok, the graduation photo session is more than an opportunity to capture memories—it celebrates the transformation of students into professionals ready to contribute to science, innovation, and society.

The College of Science proudly celebrated the Class of 2026, bringing together graduates, faculty members, and friends in an atmosphere filled with pride, gratitude, and optimism. As graduates gathered to commemorate this important milestone, the occasion reflected not only their academic accomplishments but also the beginning of promising careers dedicated to scientific discovery and community development.

About the College

Established in 1997, the College of Science has grown into one of the University of Duhok's leading academic and research institutions. Beginning with only the Departments of Physics and Mathematics, the College has expanded to include six academic departments:

The College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs that combine rigorous theoretical education with practical laboratory experience, field studies, research-based learning, and modern technologies.

Over the past three decades, the College has graduated thousands of alumni who now contribute to education, scientific research, healthcare, environmental protection, technology, energy, and public service nationally and internationally.

Celebrating the Class of 2026

This year's graduating class represents another important milestone in the College's ongoing mission to prepare highly qualified scientists capable of making meaningful contributions to society.

Throughout their academic journey, graduates successfully completed intensive coursework, laboratory experiments, scientific research projects, seminars, field studies, and community engagement activities. Their graduation reflects years of commitment, resilience, and continuous learning while preparing them to become researchers, educators, innovators, and professionals ready to address today's scientific challenges.

Preparing Scientists for Tomorrow

Graduates of the College of Science leave the University equipped with the knowledge and practical experience needed to pursue diverse career opportunities. Depending on their specialization, they are prepared to work in education and higher education institutions, scientific research centers, medical and diagnostic laboratories, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, artificial intelligence and software development, data science, renewable energy, environmental protection, geological exploration, government institutions, international organizations, private companies, and entrepreneurial ventures.

Many graduates will also continue their academic journey through Master's and PhD programs at leading universities in Iraq and around the world, further contributing to scientific advancement and innovation.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Education at the College of Science extends far beyond lectures and examinations. Throughout their years of study, students strengthened their practical competencies through modern laboratory experiments, field studies, scientific research projects, conferences, seminars, innovation competitions, community engagement initiatives, and technology-enhanced learning activities. These experiences enabled graduates to develop not only scientific expertise but also teamwork, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills essential for successful professional careers.

Students also benefited from participation in internationally recognized professional organizations, including the American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Chapter, the Society of Physics Students (SPS) Student Chapter, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter. Together with the H₂ Hub, these initiatives created a dynamic environment for innovation, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and international collaboration, providing graduates with valuable professional networks and global exposure.

Scientific research remains a cornerstone of the College's academic mission. During their studies, graduates contributed to research addressing some of today's most pressing challenges, including renewable energy, environmental sustainability, climate studies, water resources, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, material science, medical diagnostics, geological exploration, and computational modeling.

Many students completed capstone research projects that combined scientific theory with practical application, demonstrating creativity, innovation, and a commitment to producing research that benefits both society and the environment.
