UOD and Barzani Charity Foundation Plant Model Orchard to Expand Green Spaces and Experiential Learning

In a joint initiative to enhance campus sustainability, the University of Duhok (UOD), in coordination with the Barzani Charity Foundation, has successfully launched the "Model Orchard Project" at the university campus.

The project was officially inaugurated on May 3, 2026, through a tree-planting campaign organized by the American Corner at UOD. The initiative aims to develop a sustainable green ecosystem while integrating practical, field-based learning opportunities into the student experience.

The launch event saw the participation of senior university leadership and key stakeholders, including:

During the initiative, 100 high-quality, productive pear trees were planted specifically for the orchard of the College of Administration and Economics. The project outlines plans for further expansion, with 120 additional trees scheduled to be planted in the upcoming phase.

The primary objectives of this strategic initiative are to increase green spaces across the campus, raise environmental awareness, and provide students with valuable field-based learning opportunities, reinforcing UOD’s commitment to building a sustainable and eco-conscious academic environment.
