UoD, October 19, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) — The President of the University of Duhok (UoD), Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, received Dr. Dildar Haji Musa, Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Bayar A. Qasim, and three participating students to recognise the international success of the book Historical Landmarks in Endocrinology and Diabetes.

Edited by Professor Qasim of the College of Medicine, the book achieved notable recognition at the European Congress of Endocrinology (ECE 2026), held in Prague, Czechia, from 10 to 12 May 2026. Selected as the congress’s official book, it became the event’s best-selling title, with all available copies sold during the congress.

Published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing in the United Kingdom on 1 September 2024, the 410-page book explores major historical milestones in endocrinology and diabetes. It brings together scientific research, historical accounts, and artistic illustrations to explain how key discoveries have shaped modern medical knowledge.

The book covers several areas, including neuroendocrinology, thyroid and adrenal glands, reproductive endocrinology, and diabetes. It was developed with contributions from University of Duhok scholars and in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

During the meeting, Dr. Atrushi expressed the University’s pride in this achievement and reaffirmed its support for the academic publications and research contributions of its staff. He also highlighted the importance of scholarly work in advancing knowledge, strengthening research impact, and raising the University’s international profile.

The book’s success reflects the University of Duhok’s commitment to research excellence, international academic collaboration, and knowledge dissemination. It also demonstrates how the work of UoD scholars can reach international audiences and contribute to wider academic discussions in medical science.
