UOD Futsal Championship Concludes with College of Science Claiming Victory
UOD – August 12, 2025 – University Press Office (UNPO) | The University of Duhok (UOD) has wrapped up its annual Futsal Championship for Faculty Employees with an exciting final match, where the College of Science triumphed over the College of Humanities with a 2–1 victory, securing the championship title. The final was held at the Hall of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, in the presence of Dr. Nabaz Ibraheem Mohammed, Vice President for Students Affairs, alongside administrators, professors, and sports enthusiasts.
From Kickoff to Championship Glory
The championship began on June 29, 2025, as part of UOD’s Strategic Plan to promote staff well-being, teamwork, and a vibrant campus life. Organized by the University Sports Directorate, the tournament brought together 10 dynamic teams representing colleges and administrative directorates, fostering a healthy, engaged, and collaborative university environment.
The opening ceremony highlighted UOD’s commitment to extracurricular activities that strengthen community spirit and a sense of belonging. The first match saw the College of Science defeat the Directorate of Accommodation 5–3, setting the stage for a highly competitive tournament.
Final Match Highlights
In a thrilling conclusion to the series, the College of Science edged past the College of Humanities in a tense, skillful match. Bayar Saleh emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with 11 goals, while Ali Hassan (goalkeeper, College of Science) and Asaad Mohammed (College of Humanities) were named among the best players of the tournament.
