Future Leaders and Diplomats: Meet the Graduates of the College of Political Sciences - Class of 2025-2026

The graduation of a new cohort from the College of Political sciences at the University of Duhok marks a promising step toward preparing future leaders, diplomats, and political analysts. As students and faculty members celebrate this important milestone, graduates leave the university equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to understand international and domestic developments and contribute to government institutions, diplomacy, and public policymaking.

About the College of Political sciences

The College of Political sciences was established as an independent college in 2020 to meet the growing need for specialized academic expertise in politics, diplomacy, and international relations.

The college combines in-depth theoretical study of political systems and political thought with practical and analytical training, enabling students to analyze contemporary crises, evaluate political developments, and propose strategic solutions. Through two departments: International Relations and Diplomacy and Political Systems and Public Policy, and its academic programs, students develop a strong understanding of governance, public policy, diplomacy, and international affairs.

The Graduating Class and Their Future

This academic year's graduating cohort includes a select group of 210 highly qualified students prepared to meet the challenges of the political and administrative labor market.

Throughout their studies, students engaged in research and graduation projects focused on current political issues, regional stability, diplomacy, and institutional governance, reflecting their awareness of both local and international political realities.

Student Voices: Reflections on Growth and Ambition

Taher Moussa Taher

Department of Political Systems and Public Policy

Reflecting on his experience, Taher described his years at the college as a transformative period of intellectual growth and self-discovery.

"My four years at the College of Political sciences were far more than a passing academic phase. They were a milestone in self-discovery and a true test of my intellectual capabilities. Throughout these years, I equipped myself with the weapon of sciences, knowledge, and political awareness."

He explained that the college strengthened his ability to analyze political developments and crises through a strategic perspective and taught him how political thought can become a tool for change.

Looking toward the future, Taher hopes to transform ideas and visions into practical projects and initiatives that serve society and contribute to national development.

His message to future students is:

"Follow the path of science and awareness with confidence. Equip yourselves with knowledge, become role models in serving your country, and continue striving for excellence."

Gulistan Mohammed Amin Ahmed

Department of International Relations and Diplomacy

Gulistan described her university journey as rich with challenges, achievements, and personal growth.

"My experience in this college was very rich and full of challenges and achievements. Here, I did not only acquire academic knowledge, but I also learned how to develop a scientific worldview and engage with global issues."

She noted that the college environment played an important role in developing both her academic and personal skills.

Looking ahead, Gulistan hopes to use the knowledge and expertise she gained to serve society and contribute to informed and positive decision-making within her professional field.

Her advice to future students is:

"Believe in your abilities and never stop trying. This university stage is a golden opportunity to build your future. Support one another and make knowledge your greatest tool for success."

Zhegir Badrkhan Waisi

Department of International Relations and Diplomacy

For Zhegir, studying at the College of Political sciences was a journey of intellectual growth and critical thinking.

"My time at this college motivated me to improve my approach to problem-solving and significantly advanced my critical thinking skills. It transformed my mindset from a conventional one into that of an analytical thinker."

He explained that the college helped him bridge the gap between theory and practice while preparing him to address professional challenges in a realistic and strategic manner.

As he begins the next chapter of his career, Zhegir looks forward to applying the knowledge and skills he acquired to contribute positively to society and public life.

His message to fellow students is:

"This experience required effort and resilience from all of us. I hope we continue to use the knowledge and skills we have gained here in service of our professional lives and our beloved country."
