College of Languages at University of Duhok Organizes Scenic Hiking Event in Zawita

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, over 300 students and staff members from the College of Languages at the University of Duhok participated in an invigorating hike through the stunning Zawita region in Duhok province.

The event featured a 5-kilometer trail, allowing participants to enjoy the crisp, wintry air and the breathtaking natural landscapes of Zawita. Following the hike, attendees gathered for a series of interactive games and activities, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

Dr. Abuobaida Abdullah Dheyab, Dean of the College of Languages, spoke about the broader goals of the event: “Our hiking trip to Zawita was designed to encourage physical well-being, strengthen the bonds between students and faculty, and deepen our connection with nature. It was an opportunity for everyone to step outside of the classroom and engage in something refreshing and meaningful.”

Mr. Sagvan Muhammedali Ahmed, head of the organizing committee, added, “This hike offered participants a chance to explore Zawita’s scenic beauty, including its hills, mountains, and pine forests. It provided an opportunity to relax, break away from academic routines, and build teamwork while creating lasting memories in an inspiring outdoor setting.”

Many of the participating students expressed their appreciation for the event, noting its positive impact on their well-being. The hike not only provided a refreshing break from their studies but also fostered stronger connections among peers and faculty. For many, the experience left a lasting impression, highlighting the importance of such activities in promoting mental and physical health, as well as building a stronger sense of community within the university.
