Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding

UoD Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies (CPCRS) has organized a 3 hours seminar on “Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding” on 11 February 2019. The seminar attended by 32 local actors (13 males and 19 females) from Misureek town, of these 22 were from host community of Misureek, 9 from IDPs and 1 from refugees. The seminar introduced the participants to meaning of conflict, and how to links between conflict and conflict prevention. In addition, the theory of conflict prevention has been presented to the participants. Another aspect of this seminar concentrated on presenting the approaches of with conflict and where does conflict prevention fits in in these approaces. Also among the topics that have been presented in this seminar was the indicators of peace and violence and to what extend the international community works on strengthening conflict prevention mechanisms. At the end of the seminar, there was a Q&A session. Facilitated by Dr. Mamoun Abdulsamad, the seminar  has been hosted by Goal Global at Jiyan Hotel in Duhok, as one of its joint activities with CPCRS within  the project “Area Based Recovery Approach Project in Misureek”, supported by UNDP’s Iraq Crisis Response and Resilience Programme (ICRRP) with funding from the Government of Japan.
