UOD Announces the 4th International Conference on Psychology and Psychotherapy.

Under the theme "Psychology and Psychotherapy for the Future: Together in Hope," the Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology (IPP) at the University of Duhok is pleased to announce the 4th International Conference on Psychology and Psychotherapy, to be held on November 2nd and 3rd, 2024.

This conference aims to provide a dynamic platform for academic scientists, researchers, scholars, students, practitioners, and educators to exchange knowledge, research findings, experiences, and perspectives on critical topics in the field of psychology and psychotherapy.

The conference will focus on the transmission, reception, and interaction of global and local psychosocial, psychotherapy, and trauma methodologies, especially in conflict and post-conflict regions. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the latest innovations, trends, challenges, and solutions in psychosocial support, social work, psychotherapy, psychiatry, and related fields. The event will also offer a venue for discussing Western and local approaches to treatment.

Call for Submissions

We invite papers, panels, and roundtables on various aspects of psychology and psychotherapy, including but not limited to the following topics:

  • Promoting collaboration between researchers and practitioners
  • Aligning concepts and constructs between scientific research and therapeutic practice
  • Developing new research hypotheses to identify targeted and innovative interventions
  • Psychological disorders and treatment
  • Mental health and psychosocial support
  • Trauma, genocide, and other mass violence
  • Gender perspectives from Western and Eastern viewpoints
  • Trauma in children, treatment, and education
  • Ethnic and religious minorities and trauma
  • Addiction, culture, and intervention
  • Transgenerational transmission of trauma
  • Psychosocial support, psychotherapy, and other methods in conflict and post-conflict regions

We encourage interdisciplinary and theoretically informed approaches, as well as transdisciplinary dialogues. Submissions are welcome from scholars, postgraduate students, practitioners, and researchers working in governmental institutions, NGOs, and other relevant organizations.
