New Director of the Center for Peace  and Conflict Resolution Studies Assumes Office

Today, January 22, 2026, in a ceremony attended by Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, Dr. Omran Omar Ali officially assumed his duties as the new Director of the Center for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution at the University of Duhok. During the same ceremony, the center's new strategic plan was discussed.

In a meeting held during the event, Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University, congratulated the new director and expressed his hopes for the center to move toward a prosperous future. He also commended Dr. Khalil Mustafa Osman for his past service as the former director of the center, and extended his gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Khidr Domle for successfully managing the Center for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution during a transitional period.

For his part, Dr. Omran Omar Ali, the newly appointed Director of the Center for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, stated that his plan includes:

Formulating expert scientific and advisory teams.

Conducting in-depth research on the latest developments in the region and the Kurdistan Governorate.

As an academic institution, the University of Duhok remains committed to supporting such centers to serve society and to present the Kurdish cause to the world through a scientific and academic lens.
