The Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies (CPCRS) at the University of Duhok, with support from the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and in partnership with the Alind Organization, conducted a two-day training workshop titled "Digital Journalism to Promote Human Rights and Protect Diversity."

This training was part of the project: "Empowering Youth from Diverse Communities to Promote Dialogue, Cooperation, and Social Cohesion Using a Rights-Based Approach." The primary goal of the training is to empower journalists, content creators, and activists to utilize modern digital tools and platforms as a fundamental pillar for advocating human rights issues and supporting cultural and social diversity.

Developing Digital Storytelling Skills: Training participants to produce impactful media content (such as digital investigative reports, podcasts, and mobile videos) that highlights violations and the issues faced by marginalized groups.

Consolidating Diversity and Inclusion Values: Promoting a culture of acceptance, countering hate speech, discrimination, and disinformation that may target minorities or fuel societal conflicts.

Digital Safety and Source Protection: Equipping journalists and human rights defenders with the necessary knowledge to protect themselves, their data, and their sources from surveillance or cyberattacks while covering sensitive issues.

Raising Awareness of International Frameworks and Conventions: Linking journalistic work to international human rights standards and principles of freedom of expression, and utilizing these conventions as a legal and ethical framework for media production.

Advocacy and Campaigning: Empowering participants to design and manage successful digital advocacy campaigns that influence public opinion and decision-makers to protect rights and freedoms.
