A Historic First: University of Duhok Undergoes Institutional Examination
University completes its first KAAE Eligibility Review Visit
University of Duhok, October 29, 2026, University Press Office (UNPO) | For the first time in its history, the University of Duhok has completed an institutional peer evaluation visit as part of the Kurdistan Accrediting Association for Education’s (KAAE) Eligibility Review process. Held online on October 26–27, 2026, the two-day visit marks a historic milestone in the university’s commitment to quality, institutional development, and public accountability.
The international Peer Evaluation Team conducted eight intensive meetings with university leadership, academic and administrative staff, and student representatives. Discussions examined the university’s mission, strategic plan, governance, academic provision, resources, and student services against KAAE’s 21 Foundational Criteria for Eligibility.
Universities regularly assess their students. On this occasion, the university itself was under examination—its leadership, its vision, and its capacity to translate strategic commitments into effective institutional practice.
The review offered an opportunity to present evidence of progress, discuss challenges openly, and identify priorities for further improvement. It builds on the University of Duhok’s continuing efforts to strengthen policy-based governance and establish sustainable systems that serve students and society.
The university extends its appreciation to the Peer Evaluation Team, KAAE, and all students and colleagues who contributed to the review. The team will now submit its report to KAAE for consideration through the established review process.
