University of Duhok Showcases Strategic Initiatives at the 56th Anniversary of Duhok Governorship
A Strong Presence at the Cultural Carnival Reflecting Academic Excellence and Community Engagement
📍 Newroz Park, Duhok | May 29, 2025 — University Press Office (UNPO) | In celebration of the 56th anniversary of the establishment of the Governorship of Duhok, the University of Duhok (UOD) participated in a vibrant cultural carnival held on Tuesday at Newroz Park, Duhok. The event was organized by the General Directorate of Culture and Arts in Duhok Governorate, under the patronage of the Governor of Duhok, Dr. Ali Tatar.
The carnival was attended by high-ranking officials including:
- Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok
- Dr. Dilshad Abduljabbar Haleem, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, UOD
- Mr. Nawzad Abdullah, Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party – First Branch (PDK)
- Senior officials from the governorate, academia, and civil society
🎪 UOD Pavilion Highlights Research, Cultural Heritage, and Strategic Vision
As part of its institutional mission to foster community partnership and cultural preservation, UOD featured a comprehensive booth showcasing:
- Key university centers and initiatives on roll-up banners
- Academic publications, including research outputs and documentation projects
- Special focus on the Beşikҫi Center for Humanity Research (BCHR), highlighting its pivotal role in heritage preservation and minority studies
Visitors, including dignitaries and citizens, toured the UOD booth where they learned about the university’s contributions to research, education, and societal development. The event provided a meaningful opportunity to strengthen UOD’s public engagement and visibility across cultural and policy platforms.
🎭 Opening Ceremony & Honors
The celebration began with artistic performances and speeches celebrating Duhok’s development journey. During the opening ceremony, a number of individuals and organizations were honored for their outstanding service to the province, reinforcing the event’s spirit of recognition and community pride.
