In an outstanding and proud achievement for our university, the University of Duhok's futsal team won the title of the Kurdistan Region Universities

Futsal Championship, following an important and historic victory over the

University of Sulaymaniyah team in the final match.

The championship, which saw the participation of (22) universities from the

Kurdistan Region, held its final match on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the

Salahaddin University indoor hall in the capital, Erbil. The University of Duhok team managed to continue its high and exemplary performance, recording a (6 - 4) victory against the University of Sulaymaniyah team to sit on the throne of men's futsal at the level of the region's universities.

It is worth mentioning that the University of Duhok team reached this stage

following the qualifying matches of the Duhok governorate, which took place on June 22 under the supervision of the University of Duhok Sports Directorate, with the participation of six universities. There, the University of Duhok, along with the University of Akre, secured their tickets to the final stage matches in Erbil.

During the championship's closing ceremony, Mr. Sardar Ismail, the General Director of Sports, congratulated and praised both the Duhok and Sulaymaniyah universities for reaching the final stage. In his speech, he pointed out the importance of sports in educational centers (schools, institutes, and universities), stating that sports are the gateway to developing players and revealing their levels and talents. He emphasized that sports is not merely a physical activity but a message of peace among the youth. Finally, prizes were distributed to the first and second-place winning teams.

On the occasion of this great victory, the "Kia Nim" company, the sponsor of the championship, will reward the University of Duhok futsal team with a trip abroad as a gift for winning first place.

For its part, the Sports Directorate of the University of Duhok thanked the

Presidency of the University of Duhok for its continuous support, as it is

always an encourager and collaborator in advancing and developing the level of sports at the university to achieve victories in such championships. Developing these types of activities leads to raising the sports level of youth and students across Kurdistan.
