UoD, September 27, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) — The Zanin Journal of Science and Engineering (ZJSE), published by the University of Duhok (UOD), was officially accepted for inclusion in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) on September 10, 2026, marking an important step in the journal’s development and the University’s efforts to strengthen the visibility and accessibility of its scientific research.

DOAJ, based in Denmark, is an international directory that indexes open-access scholarly journals and supports the discoverability of academic research. The inclusion of ZJSE expands the journal’s presence within the global open-access research community and provides greater visibility for the work published through the journal.

Strengthening Open and Quality Research

Zanin Journal of Science and Engineering (ZJSE) was established in 2024 as an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal published quarterly by the University of Duhok. The journal provides a scholarly platform for high-quality research in science and engineering, while promoting interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange. ZJSE is committed to continuously advancing its publication and editorial practices through an efficient team of academic editors and staff, clearly defined research areas, and a fully electronic publication system. All submitted research papers undergo plagiarism and AI-content screening, while the journal’s editorial policies emphasize research ethics, scholarly quality, and adherence to international standards.

The journal’s DOAJ inclusion is supported by its open-access publishing model, valid ISSNs, University of Duhok as the publisher, clearly defined copyright and licensing policies, and double-blind peer-review process. Its archive covers all its published issues, with research spanning natural and life sciences, chemistry and materials science, environmental and agricultural sciences, computer science and information technology, artificial intelligence and data science, civil and structural engineering, mechanical and energy engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, architecture and urban studies, and related interdisciplinary fields.

A Step Forward for UOD’s Research Mission

The DOAJ inclusion further supports UOD’s commitment to research excellence, international visibility, and academic collaboration. The journal is also working toward achieving Scopus indexing, with the aim of further expanding the global reach and impact of research published by the University.
