UOD – July 26, 2025 – University Press Office (UNPO) | The University of Duhok (UOD) continues its upward trajectory in academic excellence, digital visibility, and global recognition, having secured the 3rd position among public universities in the Kurdistan Region and 4th among all universities in Kurdistan (public and private), according to the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities – July 2025 edition. UOD also ranked 19th across all universities in Iraq, marking a significant advancement in the university’s strategic journey toward academic and digital leadership.

Published twice a year by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Research Council – CSIC), the Webometrics Ranking evaluates over 30,000 universities worldwide based on their web presence, research impact, openness, and academic excellence. The latest results reflect UOD’s growing reputation in digital academic output, global collaborations, and research visibility.

UOD Among Kurdistan and Iraq’s Top Academic Institutions

In this year’s Webometrics release:
🔹 Among all universities in the Kurdistan Region, UOD is ranked 4th.
🔹 Among public universities in Kurdistan, UOD proudly holds the 3rd position.
🔹 Nationwide in Iraq, UOD is ranked 19th, placing it among the most prominent academic institutions across the country.

Compared to the same ranking but of January 2025 edition, UOD advances in areas such as academic excellence and openness, and research impact.

This strong performance underscores UOD’s commitment to academic quality, international visibility, and impactful digital scholarship. The ranking is also a reflection of the ongoing efforts by UOD’s leadership, faculty, and students to foster an environment of innovation, knowledge production, and strategic digital growth.
