Awareness Session at University of Duhok Supports Female Students’ Health and Well-Being During Ramadan

The University of Duhok, through its Psycho-Social Counseling and Student Services Center, organized an awareness session for female students at the Shifa Gardi Dormitory in coordination with the Volunteer.krd Foundation. The initiative aimed to promote health awareness, psychosocial well-being, and informed social engagement among students, in line with the university’s commitment to student support and community outreach.

The session featured a series of specialized talks addressing health and social topics relevant to female students. Dr. Hêja Miqdad Ahmed, a specialist in women’s health, presented a lecture on the daily effects of Ramadan fasting on women’s hormones and overall health. Mrs. Khalat Jamal Ahmed, Head of the Duhok Center of the Kurdistan Women’s Union, discussed the social dimensions that contribute to the emergence of challenges affecting women and girls, emphasizing awareness and community responsibility. The session also included a presentation by Dr. Green Mustafa Khalid on building a balanced and confident personality, highlighting self-awareness and resilience among university students.

At the opening of the event, Dr. Dilveen Miqdad Ahmed introduced the Psychological and Social Counseling and Student Services Center, outlining its counseling, guidance, and student support programs available to University of Duhok students. She emphasized the center’s role in strengthening mental health awareness, preventive support, and safe spaces for students across campus.

This activity reflects the University of Duhok’s strategic focus on student well-being, gender awareness, and partnerships with civil society organizations to enhance student life and personal development.
