UOD Strengthens Heritage Education and Inclusion Through TRANSITION Project Workshop
June 22, 2025, University Press Office (UNPO) | As part of its commitment to advancing inclusive education and safeguarding cultural heritage, the University of Duhok (UOD), as the Project Coordinator of the EU-funded TRANSITION project, actively participated in the 1st online workshop of Work Package 2 (WP2) on June 17, 2025.
Key Highlights:
- Focus on Minority Communities: The workshop addressed the integration of minority voices into cultural heritage curricula in both the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Yemen.
- Joint Leadership: Organized by UNIMED and Soran University, the session explored how academic institutions can better represent marginalized histories in heritage studies.
- Global Expertise: European partners contributed valuable insights, sharing best practices from Europe’s leading heritage education programs.
- Strategic Impact: This milestone supports TRANSITION’s broader vision to empower universities as key actors in promoting cultural diversity, social justice, and peacebuilding.
UOD’s Role:
As the lead coordinator, University of Duhok is actively shaping regional and international efforts to modernize curricula, foster academic inclusion, and preserve cultural memory—directly contributing to UOD’s Strategic Plan for Internationalization and Community Engagement.
