UOD, July 22, 2025 – University Press Office (UNPO) | The Career Development Center (CDC) at the University of Duhok (UOD) has proudly concluded the second round of its highly anticipated course, “English for Freelancers,” a 12-week intensive program designed to empower youth and university students with the skills required to thrive in the global digital economy.

Implemented in strategic collaboration with the British Council in Iraq, the program delivered hands-on training in freelancing fundamentals, client communication, business professionalism, and real-world project navigation all with a strong emphasis on English language fluency in the freelancing ecosystem. The initiative supports UOD’s broader mission to prepare students for international opportunities, remote work, and the global gig economy.

“This course not only teaches technical freelancing skills, but also builds the confidence needed to operate in an international work environment using English as the medium,” said the Director of CDC, Dr. Ahmed Khairaldeen Ali.

Participants explored key digital tools, freelancing platforms, proposal writing, and portfolio building.

Looking Ahead

A third round of the "English for Freelancers" course is expected to launch soon. The CDC and British Council are already working on expanding the program to reach a wider audience and introduce advanced-level modules. These initiatives reflect both organizations’ shared commitment to youth employment, digital transformation, and educational innovation in Iraq.
