UOD,September 1, 2025 – University Press Office (UNPO) | In a significant step toward strengthening student participation and embedding democratic values, the Volunteers Club at the University of Duhok (UOD) held its first official elections on Monday, August 28, 2025.

The process took place at the Students Center with the presence of Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, and the active participation of a large number of students.

This election, conducted with full commitment to transparency and accountability, marks the club’s efforts to establish an organized structure and introduce youth-led leadership. The UOD Volunteers Club, founded in February 2025 in partnership with Volunteer.KRD, has quickly grown into a dynamic platform that enables students to engage in community service, develop leadership skills, and promote a culture of volunteerism across the university.

The newly elected board will serve from September 2025 to August 2026, and includes the following positions:

• President: Leads the club, coordinates with Volunteer.KRD, and provides overall direction.
  
  
• Vice President: Assists the President in implementing activities and tracking progress.
  
  
• Secretary: Manages records, communications, and archiving.
  
  
• Treasurer: Oversees finances and prepares financial reports.
  
  
• Operations Officer: Ensures logistical arrangements and safety for activities.
  
  
• Volunteer Services Coordinator: Recruits volunteers and organizes their monthly participation.
  
  

The new board will directly oversee the engagement of more than 500 active student volunteers, ensuring effective planning and implementation of diverse activities aimed at community service and student development.

This milestone reaffirms UOD’s ongoing commitment to its strategic vision of empowering students, fostering civic responsibility, and promoting youth leadership. Without doubt, the elections will have a positive impact on campus life and the broader community.
