UOD and Iraqi Academics Syndicate Strengthen Cooperation to Organize Joint Scientific Conferences

UoD, September 15, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) — The University of Duhok (UOD) and the Iraqi Academics Syndicate are strengthening academic cooperation and exploring opportunities to organize joint scientific conferences and other collaborative activities in the future.

On September 10, Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of UOD, and Dr. Nazar Ameen Mohammed, Director of International Relations, received a high-level delegation from the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, comprising Dr. Idris Ibrahim Saleh, Vice President of the Syndicate; Dr. Qutaiba Abbas Hamed, Secretary-General of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate; and Dr. Mohammed Jiad Zainaldeen, member of the Syndicate’s General Board.

The meeting focused on strengthening academic cooperation, exchanging expertise and experiences, and creating opportunities for joint scientific conferences and other academic initiatives.

Both sides discussed the importance of expanding collaboration between academic institutions and professional organizations to support research, knowledge exchange, and the development of the academic community.

The proposed joint conferences are expected to provide a platform for academics and researchers to exchange knowledge, present scientific work, build professional networks, and contribute to addressing issues of importance to Iraqi society.

The meeting reflects UOD’s commitment to strengthening academic partnerships, research collaboration, knowledge exchange, and community engagement, in line with the university’s strategic direction of expanding cooperation and contributing to the development of higher education and society.
