University of Duhok Honors Writer and Translator Badal Ravo for Advancing Kurdish Cultural Dialogue

In recognition of distinguished contributions to cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue, the Presidency of the University of Duhok held a special ceremony honoring internationally known Kurdish writer, translator, and cultural figure Badal Ravo.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, alongside university leadership, including the Vice President for Students Affairs, Dr. Nabaz Inbraheem Mohammed, the Dean of the College of Languages and academic staff members. In his remarks, the President praised Ravo’s long-standing role in introducing Kurdish literature and culture to global audiences through translation, writing, and participation in international cultural forums. He emphasized that such efforts contribute significantly to strengthening intercultural dialogue and promoting Kurdistan’s intellectual presence worldwide.
For his part, Badal Ravo expressed appreciation for the recognition, noting that cultural work and translation represent both a national and human responsibility aimed at building understanding between peoples.
The event also featured discussions on the cultural landscape of the Kurdistan Region and the role of intellectuals in promoting heritage, literature, and artistic expression. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the university presented Ravo with a certificate of appreciation, the university emblem, and a collection of literary publications in recognition of his decades of contribution to cultural diplomacy.
This recognition reflects the University of Duhok’s Strategic Plan (2023–2038), particularly its commitment to international cultural engagement, knowledge exchange, and strengthening the university’s global intellectual impact.
