Chemistry Students Showcases Innovation at Scientific Exhibition
UOD – February 12, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) —
The University of Duhok (UOD), through the College of Science / Department of Chemistry, organized a scientific exhibition highlighting applied chemistry projects presented by fourth-year students, demonstrating the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical experimentation.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Mohammed Aaziz Ibrahem, Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Soleen Saeed Ahmed (Head of the Department of Chemistry), alongside faculty members and students.
Bridging Theory and Practice
The exhibition, supervised by lecturer, Hezha Ibrahem Adel provided a dynamic platform for senior students to translate four years of academic study into practical demonstrations, scientific models, and interactive experiments. Through hands-on activities, students aimed to simplify complex chemical concepts and make them accessible to visitors, particularly first-year students in the Department of Chemistry.
The initiative sought to encourage early-stage students to develop confidence, creativity, and scientific thinking skills as they progress through their academic journey. By presenting chemistry as a visible and engaging discipline, the exhibition reinforced its relevance to everyday life, industry, and environmental sustainability.
One of the student organizers, Sahand Abdullah Ajeel, a fourth-year chemistry student, emphasized that the goal of the exhibition was to address common questions about chemistry through practical application.
Supporting UOD’s Strategic Vision (2023–2038)
The exhibition reflects the University of Duhok’s Strategic Plan (2023–2038), particularly its pillars of:
- Enhancing student-centered learning and practical education
- Promoting research-informed teaching
By empowering students to lead scientific initiatives, UOD continues to foster a culture of applied learning, academic excellence, and societal engagement.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the organizing students in recognition of their efforts and commitment.
