University of Duhok Launches Job Opportunities Fair to Advance Community Service and Youth Employability

In alignment with its Third Mission commitment to community service and sustainable development, the University of Duhok (UOD) officially inaugurated the Job Opportunities Fair on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, reaffirming its strategic vision to enhance youth employability and strengthen university–industry collaboration.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, Ms. Zakia Sayed Salih, Representative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and Mr. Sarbast Amedi, Head of STEP Organization, alongside a number of private sector leaders and institutional representatives.
Organized by the Career Development Center (CDC) at UOD, directed by Dr. Ahmed Khairaldeen Ali, in cooperation with STEP Organization, the fair reflects the university’s proactive approach to bridging academic learning with labor market demands and preparing graduates for competitive career pathways.
Strengthening Employability and Market Alignment
In their opening remarks, the speakers emphasized the importance of building structured partnerships between higher education institutions and the private sector to create meaningful employment opportunities for young graduates. The initiative directly supports UOD’s strategic priority of aligning academic outcomes with market needs and fostering practical skills development.
Following the official opening, the distinguished guests toured the exhibition booths and engaged with participating companies. A specialized panel discussion titled “Work and Social Responsibility” was also held within the framework of the event, highlighting the shared responsibility of institutions, businesses, and civil society in promoting inclusive economic growth.
Broad Private Sector Participation
The fair witnessed the participation of approximately 72 companies, organizations, and business institutions from Duhok Governorate. Nearly 150 job opportunities were announced for youth and recent graduates, providing direct access to recruitment channels and professional networking opportunities.
By hosting such initiatives, the University of Duhok continues to reinforce its role as a driver of community development, youth empowerment, and economic engagement, positioning itself as a leading academic institution committed not only to education and research but also to impactful societal contribution.
