American Corner-Duhok Honors Trainers of Skill-Building Courses at UOD

The American Corner-Duhok at the University of Duhok (UOD) held a special recognition ceremony on Thursday, December 11, 2025, celebrating a group of dedicated trainers who delivered a series of impactful capacity-building courses for UOD students. This initiative comes as part of the Center’s ongoing efforts—supported by the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil—to empower youth, enhance learning opportunities, and strengthen community engagement.
The honored trainers led several diverse and high-value training programs, including:
- Developing Skills Course
- Natural Soap & Candle Making Course
- Art Course
- Invent Tomorrow Program
- Practical data skills
- Trauma recovery yoga
- Taekwondo course
- Music course
These courses, delivered by experienced and passionate instructors, attracted strong participation from students across various colleges and contributed significantly to enhancing creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, and hands-on practical skills.
UOD Leadership Highlights the Importance of Skill Development
The ceremony opened with remarks delivered on behalf of the University President by Dr. Nazar Amin Mohammed, Director of International Relations at UOD. In his speech, Dr. Nazar expressed appreciation for the trainers’ contributions and emphasized the essential role such programs play in enriching the student learning experience. He highlighted the University’s commitment to fostering soft skills, innovation, and practical knowledge in alignment with UOD’s strategic priorities.
Strengthening Community Engagement Through American Corner Programs
Over the past months, the American Corner Duhok has hosted a wide range of specialized workshops and training courses facilitated by expert trainers for UOD students. These courses address both personal development and career-oriented competencies, helping students gain new skills, explore creative fields, and pursue innovative ideas.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Zirak Yousif Hasan, Director of the American Corner Duhok, extended his gratitude to the trainers and participants. He reaffirmed that the Center will continue offering high-quality programs designed to support youth empowerment, professional growth, and engagement with global knowledge resources.
