UOD’s College of Veterinary Medicine Launches 2025 Summer Training to Bridge Education and Real-World Practice
UOD, July 14 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) — The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Duhok (UOD) has officially launched its annual Summer Training Program for final-year students, beginning on July 1, 2025, and continuing through the last week of August. This hands-on training is a mandatory graduation requirement and forms a vital component of the college’s applied learning curriculum.
Organized under the direct supervision of the college administration, the program is led by a wide network of veterinary professors, researchers, and field specialists, ensuring that students are exposed to the full scope of clinical and animal health disciplines—from surgical practices and disease diagnostics to livestock care, public health, and community outreach.
A Bridge Between Theory and Practice
The goal of the summer training is to equip future veterinarians with practical, career-ready skills, enabling them to contribute effectively to the animal health sector, agriculture-based economies, and public veterinary services across Kurdistan and beyond.
Community Service at Its Core
Beyond academic training, the program includes providing free veterinary consultations and treatments to livestock owners and pet owners in the region—emphasizing the college’s dedication to community service and animal welfare as part of UOD’s broader Strategic Plan 2023–2038.
The College of Veterinary Medicine, established to meet the growing need for qualified veterinary professionals in the region, continues to lead with a holistic, student-centered approach that blends theory, practice, and civic engagement.
