📍 College of Science (CSCN), UOD – May 6, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) | As part of its commitment to internationalization, student development, and academic enrichment, the College of Science at the University of Duhok (UOD) hosted an informative seminar on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, introducing the ‘American Corner’ initiative to its students and academic community.

The seminar, held at the College’s Seminar Hall, was presented by the American Corner Director, Dr. Zirk Yousif Hasan and supervised by Dr. Dalal Yousif Khudhur, Head of the TQA Unit. The session was attended by the Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Muhammad Aziz Ibrahim, alongside several faculty members and students from various scientific departments.

During the seminar, Dr. Zirak outlined the key objectives and services of the Corner, including:

• English language resources and conversation clubs
   
• Public seminars and speaker events
   
• Online research databases and book lending
   
• Scholarships and exchange opportunities with U.S. institutions
   
• Career development workshops and soft skill training

🌐 Empowering UOD Students Through Global Platforms
The session emphasized how students and faculty members at UOD can benefit from the American Corner’s wide-ranging activities designed to foster global citizenship, cross-cultural understanding, and academic advancement. The seminar also encouraged attendees to actively engage with the American Corner’s events calendar and leverage its offerings for academic and professional growth.

Dr. Muhammad Aziz Ibrahim commended the initiative and reiterated the College’s support for platforms that expand learning opportunities beyond the classroom. He stressed the importance of international programs in enhancing the university’s visibility and enriching the student experience.
