College of Medicine Hosts Third Joint Medical Symposium on Urology and Gynecology

The University of Duhok, through the College of Medicine, hosted the Third Joint Medical Symposium in collaboration with the Kurdistan Urology Association (Duhok Branch) and the Kurdistan Gynecology Association (Duhok Branch), with the participation of Acino Pharma. The symposium took place on January 29, at the Convention Center, University of Duhok, and brought together specialists, clinicians, and academics to discuss current challenges and advances in urology and gynecology.

The symposium featured contributions from a distinguished group of specialists in urology, gynecology, laboratory medicine, and clinical research. Presentations addressed real-world medical cases and emerging practices, including the prevention of vesicovaginal fistula, management of infertility and recurrent urinary tract infections, complex gynecological and urological case reports, advances in laboratory diagnostics, and integrative therapeutic approaches. The diversity of speakers and topics highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex and overlapping human health challenges.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Dildar Haji Musa, Dean of the College of Medicine, emphasized that joint scientific forums have a strong positive impact on clinical practice, noting that collaboration between gynecology and urology specialists enables more comprehensive discussion of shared clinical challenges and contributes to improved patient care. Following the Dean’s address, representatives of the Kurdistan Urology Association and the Kurdistan Gynecology Association delivered their association speeches, reaffirming their commitment to academic partnership with the University of Duhok and to advancing medical knowledge through joint scientific activities.

The scientific program featured two sessions covering a range of clinical topics, including infertility management, recurrent urinary tract infections, vesicovaginal fistula prevention, complex case reports, laboratory diagnostics, and emerging therapeutic approaches. The event provided a platform for professional exchange, case-based learning, and interdisciplinary discussion, contributing to continuous medical education and clinical practice development.

The symposium was accredited with 3 CME/CAD points, underscoring its value in supporting lifelong learning and professional standards in healthcare.
