UoD College of Law Holds Roundtable on Draft Iraqi Arbitration Law
UoD, October, 2026, University Press Office (UNPO) | The College of Law at the University of Duhok (UoD) organized a roundtable discussion entitled “Presenting Observations and Recommendations on the Draft Iraqi Arbitration Law”, under the patronage of Dr. Aveen Khalid Abdulrahman, Dean of the College, on September 29.
The discussion was held in response to a request from the Kurdistan Regional Government Representation Office in Baghdad and following the circulation of the Draft Iraqi Arbitration Law by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to Colleges of Law across the Kurdistan Region. The initiative aims to gather academic and legal observations and recommendations that can contribute to reviewing and improving the draft legislation.
The event brought together academics and legal specialists, with the participation of Judge Farhad, Justice Enforcement Officer Mr. Harivan, and Legal Consultant and Attorney Mr. Mohammed Hassan. Discussions focused on examining the provisions of the draft law, exchanging legal perspectives, and identifying recommendations to strengthen the clarity and effectiveness of the proposed legislation.
The College’s scientific committee also participated in the discussion. The committee comprises Dr. Abdullah Fadhil Hamid, Vice Dean of the College of Law; Dr. Farhad Saeed Saadi; Dr. Nashwan Khalid; and Ms. Havarst Arafat Ahmed, Director of Quality Assurance at the College. The committee was tasked with reviewing the draft law and preparing the academic and legal observations and recommendations arising from the discussions.
The roundtable reflects the College of Law’s commitment to contributing academic and professional legal expertise to the legislative process and supporting the review and development of draft legislation in response to contemporary legal needs and developments.
