College of Law Students Win First Place at International Humanitarian Law Summer Training in Sulaimani

Sulaimani– August 5, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) | In a significant stride toward legal education excellence and international engagement, a distinguished team of students from the College of Law at the University of Duhok (UOD) has secured first place at the Summer Training on International Humanitarian Law, held from July 27–31, 2025, in Sulaimani.

Organized by the Kurdistan Center for International Law (KCIL), the intensive training brought together top law students from multiple universities across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG). The event focused on advanced principles and applications of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), with participants engaging in collaborative legal simulations, case studies, and policy-oriented projects.

Winning Team from UOD College of Law

The University of Duhok’s College of Law was represented by the following outstanding students:

  • Hamdiya Jirdo Jre

  • Ahmed Motasim Najmaldeen

  • Ala Khorsheed Othman

Their project was unanimously selected as the best overall submission by a panel of legal experts and international law practitioners. Their achievement is a testament to UOD's academic preparation, research culture, and student leadership in global legal discourse.
