Faculty Development and Rule of Law Discourse at the College of Law

 📍 College of Law, University of Duhok, May 5, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) | In pursuit of advancing legal scholarship, professional development, and constitutional literacy among academic staff, the Quality Assurance Unit at the College of Law, University of Duhok (UOD), in collaboration with the Department of Law, hosted an enriching seminar titled “Main Functions of the Constitutional Rule” on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

The seminar was delivered by Lecturer Shireen Ahmed Saadullah, a respected legal scholar and faculty member, as part of the College’s weekly seminar series aimed at fostering continuous academic engagement, faculty development, and interdisciplinary dialogue.

🔍 Exploring the Role of Constitutional Law in Nation-Building

The seminar focused on the core functions of constitutional rule in modern legal systems—particularly its role in:

• Structuring the separation of powers among branches of government
   
• Safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms

Lecturer Saadullah contextualized these functions within the Iraqi constitutional framework, referencing comparative models from federal democracies and international legal standards. The discussion also addressed the relevance of constitutional rule in conflict resolution and institutional reform—critical topics in post-conflict societies like Iraq.
