UOD, August 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) – The College of Engineering at the University of Duhok celebrated its Class of 2026 through a graduation photo session, marking the completion of years of academic study, practical learning, and personal growth.

A Foundation for Engineering Excellence

As one of the oldest colleges at the University of Duhok, the College of Engineering is home to more than 1,350 undergraduate and postgraduate students, 123 academics, and 22 teaching and research laboratories. The College offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral programs across five academic departments, combining strong technical foundations with practical skills required in the modern engineering sector.

Student-centered learning is central to the College’s approach, with emphasis on innovation, critical thinking, design, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and lifelong learning.

Preparing Graduates for Diverse Engineering Careers

The graduating students have developed knowledge and practical competencies across fields including architectural, civil, electrical and computer, and mechanical engineering. Their future career pathways include construction and infrastructure, architectural and exterior design, telecommunications, software and artificial intelligence, power systems, automation, manufacturing, automotive industries, oil and gas, and other engineering sectors.

The College also supports career readiness through mandatory 6-to-8-week summer internships, the annual Engineering Design Day, and international partnerships that provide students with practical exposure and opportunities to connect their academic learning with professional environments.

Voices of the Graduates

For the graduates, the journey was not only about earning an engineering degree, but also about developing confidence, practical abilities, and the determination to pursue their ambitions.

An Architectural Engineering graduate reflected on the experience, noting that the College helped them understand the development of architecture over time and how architectural design can make urban spaces more comfortable and beautiful. Looking ahead, the graduate hopes to work in an engineering office and offered a simple message to future students: “Study well.”

A Civil Engineering graduate described the experience as difficult but rewarding, highlighting the importance of theoretical and practical learning, teamwork, and problem-solving. With ambitions to pursue Master’s and PhD studies and eventually become a university lecturer, the graduate encouraged future students to focus on understanding rather than memorization and to take part in projects and College activities.

An Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate described the College experience as academically challenging and professionally rewarding, particularly in developing skills in programming, software development, artificial intelligence, computer systems, analytical thinking, and teamwork. The graduate hopes to build a career in software engineering and AI and advised future students to remain curious, practice beyond the classroom, build projects, ask questions, and never stop learning.

A Mechanical Engineering graduate highlighted the value of practical project work in transforming theoretical knowledge into practical solutions and building professional confidence. Looking ahead, the graduate hopes to apply these skills to real-world projects while continuing to learn and grow professionally, advising future students to embrace challenges, understand core concepts, gain hands-on experience, and learn through projects.

A Milestone and a New Beginning

The graduation photo session captured more than a moment in time. It reflected the journey of students who overcame academic challenges, built friendships and professional skills, and developed the confidence to take their next steps.

As they move toward employment, postgraduate study, entrepreneurship, and further professional development, the Class of 2026 carries with them the knowledge and skills gained at the College of Engineering.
