A UoD teacher is running for Iraqi’s Presidential Elections

Professor Dr. Kamal Aziz Ketuly, who first nominated himself for the post of President of the Federal Republic of Iraq in 2018, has announced his nomination for a second time for the same post.

Dr. Ketuly was born in Baghdad in 1954 and finished his secondary school educated in the same city in 1972. In 1976, he received his Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Chemistry in the University of Baghdad and soon travelled to the UK to study for the degree of Masters in Practical Sciences which he finished in 1978 and was soon followed by a PhD in Medical Chemistry from the University of Glasgow in 1982.


From 1982 to 1991, Dr. Ketuly worked as a researcher in the University of Glasgow and became a medical consultant in the UK soon after that. From 1997 until 2002 and from 2009 until 2011, he worked in the University of Malaya in Malaysia. From 2003 until 2007, he was the Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in a number of Eastern countries including Malaysia and China.

Since 2012, Dr. Ketuly has been working in the College of Medicine in the University of Duhok as an influential teacher and an active academic. He has supervised various M A theses and PhD dissertations and has provided a number of scholarships for the UoD teachers and students.
