On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the University of Duhok celebrated, in the presence of the President of Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, the graduation ceremony of the 29th class of the students of the academic year 2023-2024 at Duhok Sports Stadium. The graduation ceremony was attended by the University of Duhok’s academic staff, graduates and their families, and guests from outside the university such as presidents of the universities of Kurdistan Region, public and party institutions’ officials and religious figures.

The 29th class graduation ceremony began with the arrival of the 5051 students, 2067 males and 2984 females, from 71 scientific departments from 19 colleges at UOD.

After reciting a number of Qur'an verses, the President of the UOD presented a speech in which he congratulated the graduates and said: "Today, you are not only university graduates, but you are the leaders of tomorrow and the future, and you have not been prepared for academic success only, but may become pioneers and innovators at any track and profession you select in your life.”

After that, President of the UOD highlighted the achievements of the university last year, such as developing a strategic plan of the UOD, the project of digitalization of the UOD system, as well as the opening of both; the Federal Studies Center and the Botanical Garden in the university, besides holding scientific activities continuously. He added: "In addition to these achievements, the Kurdistan Regional Government has provided great support for the higher education and scientific research and the UOD, including the construction of the College of Education in Amedi and employing more than 4,000 lecturers belong digitalization of the administrative and financial systems, which make our business much easier."

After presenting these words by the President of the university, the representative of the students at the University of Duhok’s board, spoke on behalf of graduates and stressed on the significance of employing them and obtaining jobs in various sectors.

For his part, the President of Kurdistan Region, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, congratulated the graduates warmly and congratulated the professors of the UOD and the families of graduates on their efforts to aid them to reach to this day.

The President of the Kurdistan Region praised the role of graduates, science and knowledge and said: "Today is not a graduation ceremony for you, but also a new phase and the beginning of your career in life." "This certificate is not only a sign of your professional and academic success, but it also puts a large responsibility over your shoulders in order to use knowledge you learned to serve the community and build a better future for your country." He added.

The graduation ceremony, after that, included taking an oath by the graduates after the Vice President for Students Affairs, Dr. Nabaz Ibrahim, which marks a code of loyalty and professionalism in future career.

The last part of the ceremony, was about giving bachelor's degrees for graduates at the request of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Studies, Dr. Lukman Hadi. The President of the university gave certificates for graduates after they were confirmed by all requirements for a bachelor's degree. Thus, graduate have been officially carrying a bachelor's degree and moved to another stage of professional life.

It is worth mentioning that within 32 years of establishment of the UOD, since 1992, 60229 students were graduated and gained certificates in various scientific fields.
