University of Duhok Holds Workshop on Engineering Education Accreditation

The College of Engineering at the University of Duhok, in collaboration with the Iraqi Engineering Accreditation Board, organized a workshop on engineering education accreditation on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Cultural and Social Center of the University of Duhok. The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. James Hassado Haido; Prof. Dr. Zeyad S. M. Khalid, Chairman of the Iraqi council of Accreditation for Engineering Education; Prof. Dr. Ali Naji Attiyah; Prof. Dr. Jalal Muhammad Jalil, members of the aforementioned council and several professors from the College of Engineering.

The main focus of the workshop was the process of obtaining accreditation for engineering education at the College of Engineering, University of Duhok. Participants discussed the accreditation requirements and outlined the necessary conditions for achieving this recognition. As part of this effort, the College of Engineering has taken significant steps in curriculum evaluation, which is a fundamental requirement for accreditation.

It is worth noting that the University of Duhok has been proactive in developing curricula across all colleges. The College of Medicine, for instance, became the first college in Kurdistan to receive accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq on September 12, 2023. The university continues to strive to be a leader in obtaining accreditation among universities in the Kurdistan Region.
