13th Engineering Design Day at UOD Highlights Innovation, International Engagement, and Industry-Relevant Solutions
June 15, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) — The University of Duhok (UOD) successfully hosted its 13th Annual Engineering Design Day, bringing together students, academics, government representatives, industry professionals, and community stakeholders to showcase innovative engineering solutions addressing real-world challenges.
The exhibition featured 180 graduation projects developed by final-year students from the College of Engineering across multiple disciplines, including Architectural, Biomedical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, and Mechanical Engineering. The projects focused on practical applications in infrastructure, technology, sustainability, and public services, reflecting UOD’s commitment to experiential learning and industry-oriented education.
A major milestone of this year’s event was the participation of three international student chapters: AIAS (American Institute of Architecture Students), Engineering Without Borders (EWB), and the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Their involvement underscored the growing internationalization of engineering education at UOD and strengthened students’ engagement with global professional networks.
The event also expanded collaboration with the private sector through project evaluation and industry participation, while introducing a specialized engineering podcast to promote dialogue on emerging technologies and innovation trends.
