For the first time, the University of Duhok (UOD) has been ranked as the top university in the Kurdistan Region by the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings 2024. The university excelled in key metrics, including research quality, international outlook, research environment, teaching, and societal impact.

This achievement coincides with the inclusion of Iraqi universities in THE's Arab University Rankings, where UOD secured 6th place among 79 higher education institutions in Iraq. The 2024 rankings evaluated 238 universities across 16 Arab countries.

This marks a significant milestone for UOD, which previously ranked 5th in Kurdistan and 25th in Iraq in the 2023 Arab University Rankings. The university's rise in the rankings underscores its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and scientific advancement.

Through ongoing efforts to enhance its higher education system, promote digitalization, foster international collaborations, and improve institutional effectiveness, UOD continues to solidify its reputation as a leading academic institution in the region.
