The Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy hold the 1st Cooperative event
On November 14, 2024, the University of Duhok (UOD) hosted the 1st Duhok-MDP-2024 Event at the UOD Convention Center. Organized by the Kurdistan Students Union (KSU) of the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, the event brought together academic staff, students, and doctors from Duhok to promote collaboration and address challenges in the medical sector. The event was sponsored by Pioneer, Splat, Ops Pharmacy, and Amrlab, and saw active participation from medical students.
The event began with an opening speech by Dr. Dildar Haji, Dean of the College of Medicine, on behalf of the UOD President, Dr. Dawood Atrushi, who emphasized the importance of the gathering. Then, Evar Shukri, a student representative of the KSU, expressed gratitude to the UOD’s leadership for supporting the event.
A highlight of the day was a lecture by Dr. Bayar A. Qasim, who discussed his recent book, ‘Historical Landmarks in Endocrinology and Diabetes’, co-authored with 10 medical students from the College of Medicine. The Kurdistan Doctors Syndicate-Duhok honored them for their contributions to the book.
The Deans of the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, along with the top graduates from recent years, were also recognized and honored during the event.
Dr. Sargoon E. Daweed, from the College of Dentistry, delivered a lecture on the crucial role of oral health in overall well-being, emphasizing the significance of the dentistry profession. He also shared insights into the history of dentistry and notable quotes from influential scientists and philosophers.
The event also featured presentations by sponsors, who shared their products and services with attendees. Another lecture was given by Dr. Abdulazeez M. Brifkani who discussed coronary artery disease, cardiology health and the importance of a healthy lifestyle, focusing on physical activity, diet, and stress management.
The final lecture, presented by Dr. Hind Bahzad and pharmacy graduate Mamand, explored the impact of modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence, on healthcare and the future of pharmacy and medicine.
The event concluded by honoring the three KSU representatives from the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, marking a successful and impactful first collaboration between the three medical fields.
