On July 31, 2024, the Center for Gender Equality Studies (GES), under the supervision of Ms. Dileen Sardar Zuhdi, conducted a session with distinguished female faculty members. The session, held at the Cultural Center of the University of Duhok, focused on “The Impact of Female Faculty in Enhancing the Academic Environment at the University of Duhok.”

The primary objective of this session was to introduce the Center for Gender Equality Studies (GES) and explore new mechanisms for enhancing the role and participation of faculty members in collaboration with the Center for Gender Equality Studies (GES).

Session Overview:

The presence of female faculty at the University of Duhok significantly contributes to a more inclusive, supportive, and dynamic academic environment. As role models, they inspire female students to pursue higher education and careers in various fields. Their participation challenges traditional gender stereotypes and biases, fostering a more equitable academic community. Moreover, female faculty members offer diverse perspectives, enriching research, teaching, and administrative practices. Through mentorship and support, they empower students, particularly female students, to navigate academic and professional challenges effectively. Research suggests that diverse teams, including gender-diverse teams, are more likely to collaborate effectively and solve problems creatively. Consequently, the contributions of female faculty members collectively enhance the overall quality and inclusivity of the academic environment at the University of Duhok.
