On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the Center for Gender Equality Studies at the University of Duhok, in cooperation with the High Council of Women and Development and the (Tirezhen Rozh) Organization for Women Development, organized a panel discussion to commemorate the "International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict."The event was held under the slogan "Remembering the Yezidi Catastrophe: From Recognition toward Empowerment, Justice, and Sustainable Solutions." It took place in the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok; Dr. Khanzad Ahmad, Secretary-General of the High Council of Women and Development; Mr. Majid Sayed Salih, Deputy Governor of Duhok; and Dr. Viyan Silivanei, Deputy Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Organizing Office in Badinan, alongside several government and party officials, professors, activists, and students.
