Our Research Framework

The Deanship of Research and Innovation (DRIN) oversees all research activities at UOD, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and global standards. DRIN’s responsibilities include:

• Supporting researchers in all academic disciplines.
• Facilitating access to research resources and funding.
• Organizing international and regional conferences.
• Overseeing the publication of academic journals and managing the University Digital Repository.
• Promoting interdisciplinary research through specialized Research Centres.

Research Areas

The University of Duhok (UOD) has organized its research focus into three major categories: Health and Medical Sciences, Engineering, Science, and Technology, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Each category encompasses diverse fields of study and research conducted by the university’s 19 colleges. These research areas reflect UOD’s commitment to addressing regional and global challenges through interdisciplinary and impactful research.

Health and Medical Sciences

• Medicine and Health Sciences:
  Advancing healthcare through medical innovation, public health studies, and groundbreaking research in nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry to improve the quality of life in the region and beyond.
• Veterinary Medicine:
  Focusing on animal health, zoonotic diseases, and sustainable livestock management to support the region’s agricultural and public health sectors.
• Health Sciences and Nursing:
  Enhancing healthcare delivery through research on clinical practices, preventive medicine, and the development of modern nursing methodologies.

Engineering, Science, and Technology

• Engineering:
  Driving advancements in civil, electrical, mechanical, and environmental engineering, as well as exploring innovative solutions in renewable energy, infrastructure, and urban planning.
• Science and Technology:
  Promoting cutting-edge research in physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science to push the boundaries of knowledge and technological applications.
• Agriculture and Environmental Science:

Humanities and Social Sciences

• Law, Political Science, and Social Studies:

• Education and Sports Sciences:
