University of Duhok Lecturer Appointed Editor at Large of British Magazine Wasafiri
Dr. Yasser Hassan Ali, a lecturer at the College of Languages, University of Duhok, has been appointed as one of the editors at large of the esteemed British magazine "Wasafiri." The magazine, which focuses on contemporary international literature, has built a reputation for excellence over its 40-year history. It is published quarterly by academics from Queen Mary University of London, with the support of Arts Council England and Routledge Publishing. Wasafiri is recognized for its commitment to literary and academic innovation on a global scale and is listed in Clarivate Analytics’ Arts & Humanities Citation Index.
Dr. Ali was selected along with four other scholars from Middle Eastern countries to serve as editors for a two-year term. This appointment followed a rigorous selection process that included shortlisting, interviews, and the evaluation of their scholarly writings.
Dr. Ali earned his doctorate in Kurdish studies from the University of Exeter, and co-authored "Women’s Voices from Kurdistan: Selections of Kurdish Poetry," published in London in 2021.
