UoD Advances Vision for a Green and Walkable Campus

On December 14, 2024, the University of Duhok (UoD) took a significant step toward sustainability and environmental innovation as Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of UoD, convened a strategic meeting to discuss the ongoing transformation of the university into a green and walkable campus. This initiative aligns with UoD’s Strategic Plan 2023–2038, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, academic excellence, and enhancing student life.

Strategic Leadership and Collaboration

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including:

  • Dr. Dilshad Abduljabbar Haleem, Vice President for Administration and Financial Affairs (VPAF)
  • Dr. Nabaz Ibraheem Mohammed, Vice President for Scientific and Postgraduate Affairs.
  • Dr. Dilan Majid Rostam, Digital Transformation Advisor to the President.
  • Eng. Haji Ismail, Director of Engineering and Projects.

Each participant highlighted their contributions to the initiative:

  • Dr. Dilshad shared updates on plans to enhance walkability and create interconnected pedestrian pathways.
  • Dr. Nabaz emphasized the critical role of expanding green spaces to foster a sustainable and inviting campus environment.
  • Dr. Dilan underscored the importance of effective water resource management as part of the green campus vision.
  • Eng. Haji outlined the operational framework for implementing these transformative projects.

A Vision for Sustainability and Innovation

The green and walkable campus initiative is a cornerstone of UoD’s strategic efforts to:

  • Reduce its carbon footprint.
  • Enhance campus connectivity for students, faculty, and staff.
