UOD Honors Prof. Dr. Ghazi B. Zibari for Outstanding Contributions to Medical Education and Humanitarian Service

UOD – February 9, 2026 | University Press Office (UNPO) — In recognition of his distinguished academic legacy and humanitarian impact in the field of medicine, the University of Duhok (UOD) honored Prof. Dr. Ghazi B. Zibari, a renowned Kurdish physician, and Director at John C. McDonald Regional Transplant & HPB Surgery Center, U.S., for his pivotal role in supporting the College of Medicine and advancing healthcare services in the Kurdistan Region.

The recognition ceremony was held at the University Presidency and led by Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok, in the presence of the Vice Presidents Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Dr. Dilshad Abduljabbar Haleem, and Dr. Nabaz Ibraheem Mohammed, along with Dr. Dildar Haji Musa, Dean of the College of Medicine, and Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Salih, Dean of the College of Nursing.

During the meeting, President Atrushi highlighted Prof. Dr. Ghazi’s enduring contributions to strengthening academic excellence within the College of Medicine and supporting the development of medical staff and students. His professional and humanitarian services in the healthcare sector have significantly contributed to improving medical practice and patient care in the region.
