Celebrating Practical Creativity and Multidisciplinary Excellence Across UOD’s Engineering Programs

📍 UOD | May 28, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) – As part of its strategic vision to integrate applied research, industry-readiness, and community impact, the University of Duhok (UOD) inaugurated the 12th Engineering Design Day Exhibition, one of the most anticipated academic showcases of the year. The event, held at UOD’s Convention Center, drew wide participation from faculty, students, community stakeholders, and regional partners.

🎓 Leadership Attendance and Institutional Recognition
The exhibition was officially opened in the presence of:

• Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, President of the University of Duhok
   
• Mr. Zubiar Abdullah, Representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) – Branch 1
   
• Vice Presidents of UOD
   
• College Deans, professors, and engineering students
   

During his remarks, Dr. Atrushi praised the efforts of the College of Engineering for organizing this signature event and emphasized its importance as a practical expression of UOD’s Strategic Plan 2023–2038:

“Our students demonstrate every year that they are capable of designing solutions to real-world challenges with creativity, professionalism, and civic responsibility.”

🔧 Highlights of the Exhibition
The 2025 edition featured:

• 217 final-year students
   
• 77 graduation projects
   
• Projects from the following departments:
   
  • Architectural Engineering
     
  • Civil Engineering
     
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
     
  • Mechanical Engineering
     
  • Biomedical Engineering
     

These projects addressed a wide spectrum of practical challenges—from smart infrastructure and healthcare technologies to renewable energy, AI-assisted systems, and urban design solutions.

This event plays a key role in fulfilling several strategic goals of UOD:
