UOD Delegation Participates in RISE Training Week in Murcia to Advance Employability and Internationalization

A delegation from the University of Duhok (UOD) participated in the RISE Training Week, held from 18–21 November 2025 at the University of Murcia, Spain, as part of the EU-funded RISE Project (Reinforcing Integration of Skills for Employability and Internationalisation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq).

The training program brought together university staff from Kurdistan Region institutions to explore advanced European models in employability development, entrepreneurship, curriculum alignment, and international academic cooperation. The UOD delegation engaged in lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities designed to strengthen capacities and transfer best practices to UOD’s academic and administrative ecosystem.

The University of Duhok delegation participating in the training week included:
Dr. Nabaz Ibraheem Mohammed, Vice President for Student Affairs;
Dr. Nazar Ameen Mohammed, Director of the Directorate of International Relations;
Dr. Tara Ihsan Abdullah and Dr. Suhad Abdulrahman Yasin, academic staff members representing DOIR and CDC respectively;
and Dr. Ahmed Khairadin Ali, Director of the Career Development Center (CDC).

Key Training Components

Throughout the four-day program, UOD staff participated in activities including:

  • Institutional sessions with the Rectorate of the University of Murcia on internationalization and student employment services.

  • Practical workshops on aligning university curricula with labor-market needs, employer feedback systems, and entrepreneurship incubation.

  • Site visits to the Murcia Business and Innovation Center, UMUEmprende, COIE (Employment Guidance and Information Centre), and the International Relations Office.

  • Discussions on building university–industry relations, soft-skills development, hackathons, and methods for enhancing students’ career readiness.

The program also featured an intercultural agenda, networking sessions, and exchanges with the RISE Project coordinators, evaluators, and partner institutions.
