University of Duhok Medical Student Wins Recognition for Publishing Psychology Book “Katharsis”

UOD Leadership Commends Student Talent and Academic Creativity

📍 UOD – May 26, 2025 | University Press Office (UNPO) | The University of Duhok proudly celebrated the achievement of Mohammed Fakher Ibraheem, a student from the College of Medicine, for authoring a book on psychology titled “Katharsis”—a significant accomplishment reflecting student innovation and academic engagement beyond the classroom.

During an official meeting at the university presidency, UOD President Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi received the student and expressed his admiration for this achievement. He commended Fakher’s ability to write such a thoughtful and impactful book while still pursuing demanding medical studies.

Exploring Psychological Themes Through Fiction

Mohammed Fakher’s novel Catharsis is a psychological allegory set in a city ruled by a dictator named Hugo, who controls people’s hearts and emotions. The story follows Enma, a rebel who challenges this emotional oppression by leading a coup against the regime. Through this narrative, the book explores themes of psychological freedom, resistance, and the restoration of human emotion.
