UOD Inaugurates New Presidency Building with Ministerial Visit and Strategic Dialogue

On June 23, 2025, the University of Duhok (UOD) proudly inaugurated its new Presidency Building, marking a significant milestone in the university’s ongoing development. The ceremony was attended by a distinguished delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (KRG), led by his Excellency, Dr. Aram Mohammed Qadir, the Minister of Higher Education.

    Dr. Qadir praised the University of Duhok’s growing national and international reputation, stating:


    "University Duhok constantly surprises us with its achievements and development steps."
    He emphasized the importance of university independence in the Kurdistan Region, noting:
    "No society can be free if its universities are not free and independent!"


  • Strategic Meeting with UOD Council
    Following the inauguration, the Minister visited the Convention Center and held a strategic session with the UOD Council and Deans.
    Discussions focused on:

    • University culture and institutional values

    • Current and future academic programs

    • UOD’s roadmap for autonomy and academic excellence

  • Visit to UOD Botanical Garden
    The Minister also visited the university's botanical garden, expressed his admiration for the project of Cultural Restoration at the Ninewa Plain, and planted a symbolic tree, underscoring the university’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

  • About the New Presidency Building
    The new three-story building includes 30 modern offices and halls, fully equipped to enhance the university’s administrative functions. Strategically located on UOD’s main campus, it will facilitate smoother communication between administration, staff, and students.
